3264 Pte.T.Barry Royal Munster Fusliers 3rd Battalion which I believe was a militia.
QSA single clasp Cape Colony confirmed in WO 100 208
I bought this medal today at a local military fair purely on a chance, it was priced quite reasonably in my view and my collection is sadly devoid of the Irish regiments.
Nothing special really but I am strangely drawn to single clasps and especially to original ribbons.
A search has sadly not unearthed any papers which is always disappointing.
The seller informed me it was from his own collection and he believed it to be a Co.Cork man, although without paperwork he becomes a mystery.

Thank you for viewing
Paul :)

Thomas Barry, a twenty one year old labourer from Cork joined the Militia on the 23rd of March 1897 and served in D company of his battalion in South Africa before being invalided back home after a spell in hospital in East London, WO96 includes some very interesting and really rather rare casualty forms.
A really lovely and scarce medal, the poor tiger appears to have a hole in it's backside, but, I suppose it should have really!
Has this latter been vetted by the "experts" in another place?

Hello Frank,
Have you found his papers, I searched FMP but drew a blank.
The badge I have had for a while, not of the period it has a slider.

Cheers
Paul :)

Has it got a hole in it, Paul, or, is it merely the angle the photo was taken?
Yes, papers in WO96 which confirm that he "sailed" on the 23 of February 1900 bound for East London, a really good medal!
