Hello Paul,
I think you will find that Barry was able to read, the AB172 Casualty certificates are quite rare to see these days and very few have survived, you can clearly see that he was not admitted to Netley until July after the long sail home on the Princess of Wales and a spell in Queenstown.
His service did continue well into King Edwards reign.
I actually do like the medal very much indeed, any Militiaman with a medal is nice to see, certainly not a common example and one of the best you have shown on here since I have been around.
Kind regards Frank

Thanks Frank,
I must admit I became a little confused reading the papers, thank you for making that clear.
I was in two minds about the purchase, glad I took the chance.

Paul :)

Hello Paul,
Have you noticed since the downturn in the United States how that premium paid for medals named to Irishmen actually serving in the pre 1922 regiments has been affected, when I started collecting it was as much as twenty five percent or so, these days, it is somewhat less, I feel.
I put this down to collectors amongst the ex pat population dropping out, good news for you! :)
Regards Frank
