Do you think his Wepener is possible in that case? I have added his name to my Wepener roll but in the category of probably not entitled.

A picture of the medal may confirm.

Yes, I do, but, without photographs of the medal and the naming. then there would be the matter of his entitlement, was it merely an error, or, was it earned by William White during the siege?

Sincerely, Thanks very much for the amazing informtion everyone has supplied!.. .I've now successfully uploaded a photo of the medals if that helps. I don't know why he came home in 1900 - I do know his wife back in Somerset had a child that year and they called her 'Pretoria' -would he have been in this region during the Boer War campaign?
Later on after the end of WW1, he enrolled in the Legion of Frontiersman .Weve a great photo of him in this uniform riding a horse, so am guessing he must have learnt his equestrian skills while in the ASC
