Hello - this is my first post. I'm new to Boer War research.

I recently came across a video from the 1927 Alfreton War Memorial Unveiling. As part of the procession of veterans I picked out who, I believe to be, my GGF Rueben Clements Page (1881-1940).

It was suggested that the medals he was wearing were, in fact, Boer War.

I can't be 100% as to whether this is Rueben but could anyone confirm the medals he's wearing and what my next steps would be in researching his Boer War service?

All the best
Tim

Welcome, Tim,

Can you attach a picture please? It needs to be less than 2000 px and less than 500KB. A picture of around 1000 px and 100KB works well.

Tim,

That does look like a two clasp QSA at the front. The second medal could the King's Medal or perhaps a Great War medal.

He was certainly old enough to have been in the Boer War.

Thank you David - really appreciate your help.

Is there a way of confirming his service from records available online?

On both the 1901 and 1911 census, he is working as a coal miner (In South Normanton).
