When I do a Name search on the web site for Gutridge J - it lists James Thomas Gutridge as being a member of the Dundee Town Guard.
I would like to query the 'James Thomas Gutridge' that appears here as in the source for the Dundee Town Guards, (WO100/281 from the website Page 7) it lists Gutridge, J. and it lists Gutridge, O. (on Page 5). I agree that the latter is Oswald Thomas Gutridge. Is there further information somewhere else to state that the initial 'J' should be transcribed to James Thomas?
However, is it possible that J. Gutridge belongs to John (Jack) Gutridge who lived in Dundee with his family (which included his 4 of his sons Henry Stuart, Charles Stuart, Reginald Stanley & Oswald Thomas). I have not been able to find evidence of James Thomas Gutridge (John Gutridge's elder brother) being in Dundee - my research says he lived in Pietermaritzburg and was a member of the Pietermaritzburg Rifles (where his name is spelt James Thomas Guttridge).
