My apologies, Meurig! It must be my short-term memory that has gone. I remembered Mitchell's article from the 20th Century, but not your recent one.

Good morning Brett,
I was very surprised to think that a medal like Wilson's would actually be on display in any museum as a ten clasp example, after even a very brief look at the rolls, a complete novice could have spotted it.
Wilson appears to have served in Damants from the 12/10/99-16/10/00, then in French's Scouts from the 4/12/00-16/8/01 and then in Nesbitts Horse from the 20/8/01-31/5/02
Moreover, both his original and duplicate eight clasp QSA's are clearly shown in WO100/244 page 70
Both his original and duplicate KSA's are shown in WO100/363 page 247 and the original is also mentioned in WO100/262 page 362 which is Nesbitts Horse supplementary roll.
Regards Frank

Frank

I doubt that Wilson's medal was ever on display in the Africana Museum and I am certain no-one on the staff would have consulted the medals rolls to confirm the clasps. However, Frank Mitchell must have done so, if it was indeed him who wrote about the medal in the SAMH Journal. Although I remember the existence of the article, I cannot remember the content. Meurig is bound to have referred to it in his paper.

Regards
Brett

The original article was written by GR Duxbury with a contribution from FK Mitchell:

Well gentlemen,
It seems clear that Dr Mitchell, did not look at the medal rolls himself, but had a researcher do it for him as Wilson's additional service is very clearly shown in WO100/244.
