Greetings,
I was wondering where more information on a Boer War DCM award to an individual might be obtained.
I am looking for J. Elliott, 3525, 1st (Royal) Dragoons).
His award is mentioned in the LG of 27/09/01 but no details.
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

A lot of DCM's awarded during the BW did not have citations..... Your best bet is to find a Regimental History and see if there is any mention there......

James Henry Elliott was a nineteen year old from Newcastle when he joined the 1st Royal Dragoons in 1892, I see his decoration was gazetted on page 6304 of the London Gazette 27359, interestingly, WO97 confirms the award by Army Order 15 of January 1902.

I would perhaps consult a copy of The Royals in South Africa by Colonel Ernest Malkins if I were you.

Thanks! I saw that book and was thinking it might have some information or at least a timeline.
