I recently won on the Kaplan auction the QSA to 756 Pte WF Smith CAPE PLCE CTG.

It has the Tvl and CC clasps.

This is a variation of Cape Police I haven't seen.

We know of CP1 and CP2. Is this something else?

Cheers

I agree.

Sadly I was never able to find any attestation papers to the Special Cape Police but there is an enrolment register which I never copied.

Thanks very much.

Do you think special meant special as in part time, like the special police in the UK?

As far as the enrolment register goes, wait till I visit CT and I will buy you lunch at the Mount Nelson and we can go look together. Assuming that hotel is still there. One city I miss is CT!

Thanks for the help

Apropos of not an awful lot; however your proposed knees-up at the Mount Nelson hotel, CT reminds IL of reading the book "On the Heels of DeWet" where the Colonial Horse attached to a column was the (fictitious) "Mount Nelson Light Horse" - apparently named after that esteemed watering hole and it being renowned during the Boer War for a clintele of wasters, loafers and barflies. Clearly. "The Intelligence Officer" (author) did not have much time for certain Colonial units! Perhaps you might regale us with a picture (word or otherwise) of such a famous watering hole?
Please forgive IL's attempt at a bit of levity
Regards
IL.
