Our great grandfather, Andrew Wallace, was with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles that went to the South Africa Boer War. While we are looking for his QSA under a separate topic, we came across a picture of Andrew shortly after he returned. He has a lapel pin that we have no history - it appears to be Maltese Cross in nature but he was not with any medical or fire fighting groups. Someone once thought this might be a ZAR coin carved by a POW. Does anyone have any background information or ideas? Thanks a lot.

Was your great Grandfather with the 1902 2nd CMR or the 1900 2nd CMR contingent that was renamed the Royal Canadian Dragoons shortly after they got to Africa?

I have inserted a portion of Andrew's attestation papers. I believe was with the 1902 2nd CMR but you may recognize the contingent by seeing his paper. Thank you for taking the time.

Thank you - I believe we have been in contact in the past. We are still looking for Andrew Wallace's QSA. We haven't given up hope but it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
