This intriguing set of 8 medals has been advertised on eBay (201314158129) for $4,000.

Not much information is included other than the fact that the Star is named to Lt. W.J. Wilmot Bothas NTL HSE. I am not sure if the seller is aware of the naming on the other medals.

There's a 385 Tpr W J H Wilmot, with these clasps DoL OFS Tr LN serving in the Natal Carbineers and later the VCR.

Here is a possibility ...... The Wilmots were (? still are) a prominent Eastern Cape family that may well have had links with Natal, a not uncommon state of affairs. The family was probably the sort that 'did its duty' in times of strife, so I can imagine that the medals might represent the efforts of more than one generation.

It's a fine set/group. I would concur with Brett that this is a family set. The only niggle being that the Khedive Star appears to be mounted with the trio.

It will be interesting to see what comes back from the seller.
