Hello Paul,
LOL, now we are both hijacking Mikes thread, you should have looked at that other QSA they are quite scarce, although, on the face of it, not always the most interesting medals!

Hi Mike
Congratulations!!
I know that feeling of elation when another "missing unit" medal joins the fold.
My collecting passion for more than 30 years was similar to yours, except that in addition to QSA's I also chased ABO medals by Commando. Thinking in retrospect there must have been a number of occasions when we may have bid on the same item!
I changed my main collecting theme in 2003 when I decided to concentrate on my "Boer War Chronological Collection" containing Orders, Decorations and Medals to recipients (Boer and British) who can be positively identified (KiA, Decorated, MiD, Wounded, PoW) as to having been present at an action, skirmish, battle or even an isolated incident, provided that there is something published in writing about the specific “happening”.
At the peak I had well over 1300 QSA's and some 450 ABO's, but the present tally is 620 QSA's and 280 ABO's.
I hope you get future QSA additions at a steady pace!
Henk

Thanks Henk........

I was asked the question as to how many QSA's I had in my collection by Patrick and was a bit reluctant to post the number but after seeing your numbers, so here is my answer to him......

I have 491 (men) QSA's that are singles and in groups But only 3 ABO's...... At the height of my collection I had a little over 650...... Yes over the years I am sure that we have bid against each other..... There is another member of the forum that when ebay first came into existence we were always bidding against each other, not so much now......

It will be great fun when we shuffle off this mortal coil and the collections with a few exceptions I am sure are put up for sale......

When I first started collecting I used to collect anything and everything I could lay my hands on, a real packrat..... Back in the 50's and early 60's I lived 1 block away from Portobello Road and was able to pick up tons of items very cheap, the dealers would sell a kid stuff at cost and sometimes less and I always took advantage of it.... LOL I was going to a show once and looked at my collection and found that I did not have a theme or could put on a display and since I had more QSA's than anything else that's what I kept, sold all the rest, and collected QSA's ever since..... The best deal that I ever had was 10 Town Guard and DMT medals because they had no bars for a total of 40 Pounds and without bars the dealer said they were not worth much......
