Generally for the MI you have to start with the general histories, find which regiments were in which MI then then try the specific regimental histories.

There is need for a comprehensive history of the MI.

Where can I find out more about the doings of the 11th M.I.?

I have checked this site as well as the ubiquitous google to no avail..

I had a look in OH for 11th Bn MI(the MI have always been of interest to me and I echo Meurig's comments about the need for their ABW history); however I found no reference there. Looking at the signature on the bottom of the medal roll (Maj. T.Willington of the 4th Leinsters), the Services of Officers tome has him as "Hon. Maj. 4th Bn., Leins. R (M for Militia) and Ops in the Transvaal, Sept 01 to 31 May 02. Perhaps their Regimental history - I expect there is one - might assist?
Good luck
IL.

Thank you IL.

I'll give it a bash along with Meurig's suggestion to contact the RA Museum.

A friend located Militia papers for Honey but this predates the Boer War by a few months - he joined the Rifle Brigade and transferred to the RFA in September 1899.

At least I know he was a Blacksmith to begin with!!!

I have now received a page out of Honey's Soldiers Book which was stamped by an officer of the 13th Battery, R.F.A. (albeit in 1907) (see below)

Could it be that he served with them in the ABW?

If he served with 13 battery in the ABW - then why isn't he on their medal roll?
