Hello Paul,
88th, 87th and surprisingly the 101st Bengal Fusiliers and 1st Munster's, although, the 101st was part of the British Army and not the wretched John Company at the particular point of time in question.
In addition, sadly, I can confirm it was indeed the very poor end of the gutter too! :(

I agree with this "I think if you were born in the gutter then it is quite right and proper to not want to stay there, so I would use the word magnificent, up to a point at least! :)"
