Good Afternoon Everyone.....

Had been searching for a QSA to the 14th Hussars for a while now and in the matter of two months I am able to obtain two which covers nearly all bars that the regiment is entitled to.....

DALBY, J

REG. NO.: 2753
RANK: PRIVATE

REGT: 14TH HUSSARS ("B" Squadron)
BARS: RELIEF OF KIMBERLEY, PAARDEBERG, DRIEFONTEIN, SOUTH AFRICA 1901

and today

WILSON, J.

REG. NO.: 3544
RANK: PRIVATE

REGT: 14TH HUSSARS ("A" Squadron)
BARS: CAPE COLONY, TUGELA HEIGHTS, ORANGE FREE STATE, RELIEF OF LADYSMITH, JOHANNESBURG, DIAMOND HILL, BELFAST

I hate to say that the Wilson medal has been plated and some of the plating has worn off, you can read the naming but it cannot be photographed and I tried.....

Also Wilson was sent home in June of 1901 and I think that he should be entitled to the South Africa 1901 which would bake this an 8 bar medal..... My only one......

Hello Mike

Wilson earned a KSA so "just" a 7 clasper - very nice though despite the plating.

Mike

I echo Meurig's opinion of Wilson's medal. Is it possible to 'unplate' a medal?

Regards
Brett

Good Morning Brett.....

The plating job must not have been very well done as it is slowly coming off am hoping that it may come off by itself......

Otherwise I am not sure it can be done.....
