Extremely seldom seen here and when noted usually come from one of the old collections. My first DofM came from Stan Kaplan all those years ago and it's eventual "replacement" (TG) came from Eugene Ursual and the others from UniK dealers. So the quick answer is "all over".
Considering everything, I think a confirmed DofM is very well worth having.
Best regards
IL.

Hello Ian,
It was not so many years ago when they could be had for around the £550 mark, you could certainly buy a good Town Guard medal for that sort of money before the centenary of the war, but, that was still quite a lot of money, baring in mind that a medal to the Kimberley Town Guard could be had for under £100.
The real difference these days is simply that if you have the money needed, the medals are not always there to be bought.
Regards again Frank

Hello Ian,

Interestingly Hodgson attested in Mafeking on the 23rd May 1896 effective on pay roll 1st June 1896 age 22 years.

His attestation papers state no previous service in the police, army or navy !!

Mothers name Kate Hodgson and from Bedford, UK.

If not disclosed on his CP attestation, the Siege Register mentions his previous service in Siege Slip 84 as "City of London Volunteers". This could be a mistake; or else the service was brief.
Thanks for the additional information.
