Hello,
My nan gave me this photo of her grandad Arthur Hill years ago. She's written on the back ? Boer War. Does anyone recognise it as a Boer War era uniform, and even better can the cap badge be placed?

This looks like a photo taken in India.....

The badge I think is Royal Warwickshire Regiment.....

Mike is right about the badge.
This looks like a Wolseley helmet, and those were introduced in the late 1890's for wear in hot climates. I'd guess the photo dates from some time in the twenty years following, but I'm no expert on uniforms. The Warwickshire's were all over the place in that period -The Sudan, South Africa, Somaliland, India and Malta, amongst others. A delve into the records in Ancestry and similar sites , using his name and regiment, might throw up more information.

I looked up the name Arthur Hill in FMP under Boer war and got 72 replies but only one in Warwickshire Regiment......

The Colonel of the regiment Arthur Hill.....

They didn't wear shorts in the Anglo-Boer War, looks WW1ish. As suggested search for service papers.
