Hi Mike,
I wonder what the men got to do, on their "afternoon holiday" I doubt if conditions on board Monterey were quite as good as on a cruise ship of today

Hi Frank.....

In the navy we used to call this a Make and Mend afternoon..... Goes back to the time of sail when you were given the odd afternoon off (usually a Sunday) to make or mend your clothing but there were no duties to be performed.....
