Term 'undesirable' shewn [sic] on medal rolls, SA Irregular Corps, O/C Discharge Depot, Cape Town, states in letter no M/27742/L/3812, dated 14.9.06, that it frequently happens that men were sent "down for discharge as 'undesirable', for no serious crime than they suffered from some physical defect or probably could not ride or shoot. In such cases where such men have received 'Good Characters', I have always satisfied myself that nothing should debar them from SA Medals".
