Thanks IL - considering the amount of action he saw in the Defence of Ladysmith as well as in the TVL at Bergendal, I am surprised he came away unscathed.

Yes, indeed. Doing a cautionary double check of NFF before initially replying, I was struck by the ten pages of casualty entries for the RB. Not just the RB, of course. And running my eyes down the pages of entries for such as the West Yorks, the Dubs, the Inniskillings, and all the others, it brings home - if ever it were needed - the scale of the Ladysmith operation; both defence and relief.
