A complimentary smoke night was tendered to Sergt. Thomas VEARING, who recently returned from South Africa. Mr T.H. Bayley presided and during the evening Cr J. Morison, on behalf of the subscribers, presented Sergt. VEARING with a gold albert and medal, beautifully inscribed. The catering was done by Mr James Holloway and was carried out in really first class style. Songs and speeches were rendered during the evening by Messrs R.J. Shelton, J. and G. Bayley, Davis, Spencer, Danby, Sidebottom, E. Holloway, E. Vearing, C. Gadd, J. Prince and several others.
