Hi Dave, sorry. Could I just ask where you have managed to get all of these from? It will enable me to do some digging for myself.

Thanks!

Hi Lee,

I can't speak for Dave, but I have used similar Attestation of Service and Medal Roll forms from both Ancestry and Find My Past sites. Unfortunately they are both pay per use sites, but I have found that at least here in Australia I have been lucky to have free access previously through our local library. This might be one option for you to follow up with.

Morning Lee,

As usual Dave F has done a more thorough job than me - wonder why I missed the second Medal Roll? So he received 4 clasps to his QSAM - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal & South Africa 1901.

I did also look to see if he appeared on a Public Family Tree on Ancestry, which can save a lot of work as long as it is a reliable one, but he did not.

Trev is correct you can access Ancestry & FMP foc at your public library - well you can in Wales and I believe the same goes for the rest of the UK. What I don't think you can do is download anything to take home so you would need to take paper & pencil.

You used to be able to do a 14 day free trial on both but they will require a credit card number and you would need to remember to cancel before the 14 days were up. I believe you can also join on a monthly basis and cancel whenever but you will need to read the small print. I think if you are intent on creating a family tree from scratch you will need to face up to expenditure on one or other and ideally on both.

Hello Lee
Trev and David (Smethwick) have covered your question regarding the info.
A trial period on Ancestry or FMP should be enough time for you to gather your data.
I used Ancestry for your T Fowler.

Good luck in your search.

Best wishes

Dave.....
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave
