Just popped down to the local auction house in time to pick this up

- Anglo Boere Oorlog Medal to Burger CP Vermaak
- 1914/15 Star to RFM. CP Vermaak, 4th SAMR
- British War Medal to RFM. CP Vermaak, 4th SAMR
- Victory Medal to RFM. CP Vermaak, 4th SAMR and
- SAP Faithful service Medal to No. 8444 Const. CP Vermaak.

In this past week I picked up a similar grouping to a Forbes but he had the QSA/KSA unlike this chap who fought for the other side.

Will anyone with the ABO roll please let me know what Kommando he fought with. His full names were Cornelius Petrus Vermaak.

Would that translate into e.g. Vryheid Commando or not necessarily?

I've added a photo of the group which came in a very old glass topped frame with the chaps papers, badges etc.

Not necessarily, Rory. There was a Cmdt Botha of the Vrede Commando, so that is another possibility. Possibly significant is that on the ribbon bar and the orientation of the ABO in the display, they are shown the Transvaal way. Vermaak's 'Vorm C' may help in settling the issue. The Vrede and Vryheid Commandos were together in Natal, but later the former went on to see action in the Free State.
