Images taken from Ancestry under Nelson E M Henry.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for posting those pictures.

The headstone I've seen in person, I live about a five minute walk from the Cemetery.
The death certificate, I have a copy of from my sister.
As for the last picture, unfortunately that is not actually Nelson EM Henry
Here is a picture of Nelson in his uniform:
Peter

Thanks again for you continued research, it is much appreciated.

Hi Dave,

So, he may have served during the actual Boer War 1899 - 1902, we don't have any proof on our side one way or the other.

The other details I think must belong to another Henry, when you mentioned earlier that he returned to Canada in 1904, that would fit with the history we do know of him.
He shows on the 1906 Manitoba census living in Souris with a long time family friend. He later married my grandmother in Killarney Manitoba in 1909. They moved to Langley BC in 1910, where he was a millwright briefly at the Fort Langley Sawmill, until it burnt down. They then moved to and settled in White Rock in 1911 where he worked at the Campbell River Sawmill until he retired.
I can confirm he didn't serve in the First World War, though other relatives did, and he was never a police officer. Though again the dates you have for his death and his burial place are correct.

Somehow, someone else's information has gotten mixed with his at some point.

Thanks again for all you're doing.
We really appreciate it.
Peter

I believe that picture was taken prior to his departure from Canada, so that may be what he was provided to take the portrait.

No it would have been after he returned.....

1) The badges have the King Edward Crown so post 1902.....
and he had to have service in South Africa to get the medal he is wearing.....
2. The medal was not issued until between 1903 and 1905.....
