My Gran-father was Thomas Shanley from Templemichael, Longford Ireland.

I have no records for Thomas, my father always said that he was in the two wars, which I presumed he meant the Boer and WW1. We still have his medals from WW!.

Best regards
Ann

The Number and Regiment should be on the edge of the medals.....

Thanks Mike

I had no luck finding much on Thomas in either war. We got his medal card from WW1. We know he got a pension after the war but there is no record of that anywhere.

When William was in the Boer war he was on horse back. The story that was told to us by our aunt was that "the horse was shot from under him, but he was not hurt".

Thanks again
Ann

Hi Mike

His number in WW1 was 236 Royal Irish Regiment.
