No Mike. The Hampshire an IOW RGA are Militia. Militia and Volunteers are entirely different establishments.

That is an interesting collecting field, never considered that before. A friend of mine in the UK also likes Volunteer and smaller Militia regiments.

I have 2 Elswick QSAs. 7168 Gnr T Ross Clasps CC OFS T SA01 and 7046 Gnr R Brown same clasps plus the Durham tribute medal inscribed to Driver R. Brown, Elswick Battery for Services in South Africa 1900-01. Sadly I have been unable to find papers for either man.

I also have an engraved 12 pdr shell case from the battery made into a gong

The engraving reads
Cartridge Case 12 Pr. Elswick Gun
(Naval)
Six of these Guns were presented by
LADY MEUX TO LORD ROBERTS
(then C in C of the Forces in S. Africa)
used by 37th Batty. R.F.A. in the Boer War 1899-1902
these guns were ranged up to 7 miles
though rarely if ever used at that range
The cartridge case contained Cordite
From A.J.W. to H.W.P.
Norwich. 1903.

I have not identified AJW or HWP
