Well, there seems to be nothing missing with that particular one, a fairly typical example, although, some are not as complete as that, to be quite honest, they are certainly not medals that you will encounter all than often anyway, so certainly worth buying if you see one for sale.

Hi - I'm researching a couple of men from French's Scouts (Francis Henry Somerset and his brother Edmund Edgerley Somerset). I would love to see their attestations - was this attestation from WO 126 at Kew or from a South African archive?

Hi Phil

The only Attestation papers for Colonial units are in Kew. None are available in SA save for the S.A.C. and Cape Police records (some of them)

That's is a lot more convenient for me! I shall probably nip up to Kew tomorrow and check them out.

From you reply I guess it means that Natal Mounted Police records are lost?
