Morning Rory,
The more I think about it, the more I feel that he probably had served again, he had no reason whatsoever to just award himself with those clasps, I would think what you might see, is an unofficial rivet between the Relief of Ladysmith and Transvaal clasps, but, I would certainly want his BMI papers from WO126/2-3 if I were you.

My consignment of medals arrived safely and, among them, was O'Connor.

Herewith photos thhe clasps - you be the judge as to whether they were added later or not.

I would like to be able to find him with extended service but will have to wait until I get his Claim for Compensation forms from the TVL Archives where he might mention where he was and with whom.

Regards

Rory

Hello Rory,
I would say from the photographs that the second rivet is clearly not an official one, noticeably differing in shape/size etc, very clear in the first photograph and that the medal was originally issued from the BMI roll with the first two clasps only, however, the other remaining clasps were issued together as can be seen from the last two rivets.
I would also say, that they have been together for a long time, if the medal were mine, I'd start going through the supplementary rolls of the units that often received that latter combination.
Regards Frank
