Hello Frank

The MMR Roll entry for Frost which mentions the PE DMT doesn't appear to be the same man.

There is a Conductor J Frost in the ASC which isn't this J Frost.

This J Frost was in the Durban Remounts. As the Remounts get a separate roll to the ASC I have always treated them as different units; is this correct?

Thanks for your good wishes and they are reciprocated! I did once see the roll Frank was kind enough to show and I always assumed that the "12 mos" notation applied to Remounts and not to MMR. Sorry, I don't know if the ASC and Durban Remounts are/are not synonyms; I always thought that "conductors" were ASC and Remounts were, well, Remounts.

Hello Meurig, happy new year to you,
Yes, the DMT fellow has the three initials, certainly can't see another Frost.
I would think that the Durban Remounts would be a separate organisation, but, I wouldn't be at all surprised, if they had been put together on exactly the same lines as the ASC, by the ASC, I wonder who was paying their wages and where the animals were actually going, one assumes the Natal Government and their Volunteers and Police respectively.
The fellow in this thread is fascinating though, a super recipient.
Regards Frank

You're right about this chap, Frank.

My wife's maiden name is Frost, I am working on the family connection and digging out the police report from when the medals were stolen. :woohoo:
