Also get a copy of the roll, any call out dates are often written on the roll.

I am in your debt, i do apprieciate your time and effort in looking into this medal for me..

I am a total and utter "newbie" to medal research, or, any type of research, if the truth will out..

Please excuse the next question.. you mention "roll's" and listing numbers.. What exactly are these, and where can i find them, please??

I didn't know that this information was still around from all those years ago.. fascinating isn't it !!.. i wish to find out more about this gentleman..!!

Thank you again frank.

Hello again mike.

No, no.. i do understand that there were many QSA medals issued, many thousand i dare say..

I also understand that the medal i have is one of only 74 issued to that particular town guard, and that there were no doubt many many more TG's in south africa at that time.

My surprise comes from the fact, that, this QSA is from the small issue amount, 74 for this TG, and, how this medal came to be in my departed uncles belongings.. I dare say that there were, in some instances, QSA medals issued in they're hundreds to some TG's, i find that amazing..!!

Many thanks again for your help mike.
Best regards.

The medal rolls I mentioned are at the National Archives Kew in WO100 in the three volumes I quoted and have also been digitized, all available on line via ancestry.

Hello Lee,
This country really is awash with QSA's so I would think he just bought it!
Regards Frank

I know before i ask you, that my next question is a "how long is a piece of string" style question, but, here goes..

How could my uncle, a Lancashire Lad, born and bred, come to have this QSA in his possesion, and esecially a QSA of such low issue..??

Best regards.
