Great find.
By the way, my tin came with the ealier unnumbered 1884 Egypt Medal card (as shown next to the tin). I included the numbered Transvaal Star card as evidence that the medal series was printed in 1900, before the design of the Queen's South Africa Medal was known. I see now that my post was a bit misleading...

Hi Neville,

No Problem, I thought your comment regarding the unissued medal to be a fair point, I just found a fine example of the card and it has just arrived. Assuming as you point out that this predated the QSA,KSA medal issue I thought it to be a fair bet.

Just found this photograph that formed part of the War Hat's exhibition depicting a card from the medal collection by F &J Smith.
The evidence looks to be quite compelling !
