What on earth was wrong with the term "By God" as used by Major Mackenzie, I don't know what the staff of the Daily Chronicle would make of the language in use by the popular press these days.

The final chapter in the 'Relief of Ladysmith' is amongst my favourite stories of the Boer War and this account is probably as good as it gets. Thank you for sharing it with us.
